12 Weeks, 4 Days Pregnant!

Can you tell I have a cold and just woke up? :)

How far along? 12 weeks, 4 days

Total weight gain: +1.6 lbs

Maternity clothes? Not yet!

Stretch marks? Not yet!

Sleep: Great! Sleep is my best friend. Jon's pretty cool with me going to bed around 8:30 every night. Last night I stayed up until 10 (crazy!), and ended up sleeping over 9 hours. I'm soaking this up since I've heard second trimester insomnia can hit at any point. Eek!

Best moment this week: Friday night. We didn't do much, but it was nice knowing it was the weekend and I got to hang out with Jon uninterrupted. We got Pizza Hut (indulging those cravings), watched The Office, and snuggled Happy. It was nice just relaxing and talking. Also visiting Little Man Ice Cream with Jon's parents last weekend. They have the BEST ice cream (worth the 40+ minute wait), and Jon said we can go there after my next appointment - before dinner even!

Miss anything? Beer! Now that Oktoberfest beer has arrived, I'm truly missing it. However, pumpkin has hit most coffee shops, so I'm still enjoying the tastes of fall! Jon will be traveling for work at the end of September, and I warned him he will come back to a "fall-ified" apartment! I cannot wait!

Food cravings: Nothing that is set in stone, but I get cravings that must be indulged from time to time. My students' journal for Friday was about their favorite food, and that was really rough reading all those! Ice cream, caesar salads, pizza, hot wings, toaster pastries... I wanted it all! I'm still on the fruit kick, and we end endless watermelon and sundew... have you heard of it? Like honeydew, but a bright yellow outside and a much sweeter inside.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope! I still occasionally get nauseous in the morning or evenings, but I'm still able to eat which is great. Sometimes smells will really turn me off. Stinky students are very rough, and smelly garbage is too much.

Gender: Mystery! We are now about 100% we'll find out at delivery. :)

Movement: Nope!

Symptoms: Not sure if it's a symptom, but I wake up with a flat belly, and it turns into about a 6-month pregnant belly by bedtime. Other than that, things are evening out now that I'm in the second trimester (woohoo!).

Belly button in or out? In!

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy! I developed a cold this week, which hit me HARD, and I'm doing a pretty good job of feeling sorry for myself. But overall I feel pretty good. I haven't really been moody yet (maybe double check with Jon on that though!).

Looking forward to: My next appointment on Tuesday. I'm pretty sure they won't do an ultrasound, but it will be nice to know we're out of the "miscarriage window." My principal will announce my pregnancy to the staff at our Wednesday meeting if all goes well, so that will be fun, too!

Visiting the Garden of the Gods for the first time! Colorado Springs was supposed to be cold that day, but turned out hot and a pregnant Tessie in long sleeves and long pants did not fair well. We only explored a little, but we're excited to go back at some point and do some real hiking!

At our favorite Mexican restaurant, Hacienda Colorado, with Jon's parents! It was fun having them visit for the weekend. We got to do and see a lot of things we haven't before, which was so fun!

10 Weeks, 4 Days Pregnant!

How far along? 10 weeks, 4 days

Total weight gain: we are waiting on our scale that didn't make the move with us.

Maternity clothes?  Not yet!

Stretch marks?  Not yet!

Sleep: Now that work has started, it's been hard to get solid sleep. Luckily, I've been falling asleep on the couch around 8 every night, so I usually get over 8 hours. Last night I got 11.5 hours! It was great, and I probably could've kept sleeping.

Best moment this week: Surviving the first week of work (for both of us), and celebrating our anniversary. Since our anniversary was on my first day with students - and I fell asleep at 7:45 - we decided to celebrate our anniversary today. We went to History Colorado Center, and it was amazing! It was very similar to the JFK Health Center that used to be in Barrington. It was very interactive, and had real people acting (we avoided them). Definitely something to check out when in Denver.

Miss anything?  Not really! Which is really nice :)

Food cravings: Fresh fruit mostly. We spent most of our grocery budget on fresh food last shopping trip, and we did not regret it. Jon usually makes me a yogurt, chocolate granola, blueberry, and raspberry parfait in the mornings. We've stocked up on watermelon and honeydew, too. I get random cravings - like needing two bagels today - but nothing that has really stuck.

Anything making you queasy or sick?  Nope!

Gender: Mystery! We're pretty set on waiting until baby makes their arrival to find out!

Movement: Nope!

Symptoms: Acne and thirst. I woke up in the middle of the night and drank 16oz of water at some point. I bring my nalgene everywhere, which helps.

Belly button in or out?  In!

Wedding rings on or off: On.

Happy or moody most of the time: Happy! Other than work exhausting me, it's been a really great distraction from focusing on how I feel.

Looking forward to: Anniversary dinner tonight! We are going to Eddie Merlot's and couldn't be more excited. I am ready for a nice cut of meat, and of course the bourbon flambĂ©ed brownie for two. YUM!

They had simulation ski jumps!

Not sure what this is, but Jon almost put on the children's size when luckily a little girl handed over the adult barrel.

9 Weeks, 4 Days Pregnant!

Estimated due date is March 7th. I'm estimating March 10th, so we'll see what happens!

How far along? 9 weeks, 4 days

Total weight gain: -1 lb! I was pretty sick for a few weeks, and ended up losing a bit of weight. Our doctor is not even remotely concerned :)

Maternity clothes?  Not yet!

Stretch marks?  Not yet!

Sleep: I loooooove sleep. I could probably sleep at any point of the day, but I'm pushing myself to get a solid and deep sleep at night only. Since Jon is gone this weekend, I was concerned Happy would wake me up early (he usually wakes Jon up around 5AM), but he let me sleep in until 9. Good dog.

Best moment this week: Not feeling nauseous constantly and actually being able to set up my classroom. It's all done by the way! Also, finally visiting our doctor on Tuesday (8/2) was really exciting. It was great to get some confirmation that everything is going well and that we have a "textbook" baby! We could see and hear the heart beating. Babe was upside down, and no matter how hard the doctor tried to get them to flip, they wouldn't budge. Let's hope this isn't an omen of their stubborn nature...

Miss anything?  Beer. Colorado has so many beer choices! I just sniff whatever Jon is drinking.

Food cravings: Not really.  I was very into Ramen a few weeks ago, but now I can stomach and eat just about anything/everything.

Anything making you queasy or sick?  Meat mostly. I do crave red meat occasionally (gotta get that iron!), but usually I pick around other meats.

Gender: Mystery! We're pretty set on waiting until baby makes their arrival to find out!

Movement: Nope!

Symptoms: Extreme fatigue, acne, thirsty pretty regularly. I also go from not being hungry at all to being STARVING and needing something to eat immediately. I have endless snacks in my purse all the time.

Belly button in or out?  In!

Wedding rings on or off: On. I was just researching how long I'll be able to wear my ring. I think I might be a little heartbroken when/if I need to remove it.

Happy or moody most of the time: After a few solid weeks of moodiness, I'm happy (and boy is Jon happy) to say I'm pretty content. It's been helpful to have work to distract me from worries, and sometimes I completely forget I'm pregnant!

Looking forward to: Jon getting home from Michigan! After being together basically non-stop since June 10th, it's been weird to not have him around. Although I have completely finished my classroom, finished a book and a half, and cleaned the apartment in the day and a half he's been gone :)

Here are some pictures of the bulletin boards of my classroom. I have one bulletin board to go, but the kids will help me create that one!

I was just told our class lists may change, so I wish I hadn't wasted an hour putting up the balloons yet!

Students will add their books to the bookshelf as they finish whatever they are reading

We teach the students how to be positive and the importance of building one another up :)
